- Assignment Overview

A primary goal of this course is to learn how to use your understanding of organizational behavior to appraise your own behavior, and increase your self-awareness and facilitate your personal development in organizational settings. In the written reflection assignments, you will apply organizational behavior concepts/theories to understand your personal work experience.

This assignment asks you to complete a personality inventory revealing key personality traits, and then to reflect upon the results in the form of a short essay. You will be asked to consider five dimensions of your personality traits, your personal strengths, areas that could benefit from improvement, as well as to reflect upon how these traits may impact your job choice and job performance.

Formatting

• 4-6 pages (or more if you need to satisfactorily cover everything that is needed, over the page limit will not be penalized), double-spaced.

• 12 pt. Times New Roman

• Please use headings to guide your analysis

• Submit your personality test report as appendices (note: these do not count towards your page limit)

Content

Please respond to the following questions in creating your submission 

1. What is your current job or your dream job (if you don’t have a job currently)?

2. Complete the “Short Form for the IPIP-NEO” (120 questions) at https://personalitytest.net/ipip/ipipneo120.html (https://personalitytest.net/ipip/ipipneo120.html)

(before you can take the test, you need to click two acknowledgement boxes, and then click the “submit” button at the bottom of the page to start the test).

Based on your results, respond to the following questions:

1) Among the five domains, what are your two strongest personality trait dimensions? Describe each of these traits and their facets. What evidence do you see of this in your own life (provide tangible examples)? How might these personality dimensions benefit your current (or dream) job performance?

2) What is your weakest personality dimension based on the test results? Describe this trait and its facets. Do you agree with the test results (provide tangible examples)? How might this personality dimension impact your current (or dream) job performance?

Note: You may need to refer to your “total” scores (i.e., Extraversion; Agreeableness; Conscientiousness; Neuroticism; Openness to Experience) to determine your strongest and weakest traits, rather than your “facets” scores.
