2. Assignment for MSc modules "Business and Engineering"
Please answer the questions as exactly and precisely as possible (full text please, not only keywords). Please mention that it is a homework, not a class test!
If you use any other sources or tools than your lecture script, you have to quote them. This is also applicable for any form of AI tool you are using! The guideline is to keep your work process as transparent as possible.
If I will find any unquoted material or tool use, this is a violation of the basic rules of scientific working and means that your paper will be graded as “not sufficient”. Please upload your work in PDF format! Please: take care that your complete work does not exceed 20 MB !!! If you use images use low image resolution and compression algorithms and “lean file” settings in your pdf program; this will not affect quality.
Valuation criteria are:
adequate transfer of lecture knowledge as basis
elaborate research (!) in library and internet sources (including correct quotation!!)
adequate structure (!) of answers and stringent argumentation line
answer should fit the question as precisely as possible
adequate and actual real world practical examples (!)
The lecture contents can only be used as a first guideline for a good answer.
Take care for the %-weighting of the question – this should be reflected by your workload.

Questions:
1st task
What are the company's general options in a strategic perspective? Describe the options on the different levels. Can they be used also or do they exclude each other? Show real world practical examples for the application of these strategic options and derive their general pros and cons carefully out of the practical applications (20%)
2nd task
Describe the specific aspects and tools of b2b marketing and illustrate your answer with different practical examples. (20%)
3rd task
Case study: (60%)
You are consultant for strategic technical management and your first job is to explore the strategic situation and to develop strategic options for the company “CNH Industrial”, which covers many famous brands in agriculture and construction. CNH is the third-largest machine building company on the globe.
First, analyze the strategic situation of this company with the instruments and criteria you have learned, carefully based on available facts. Please take care that here we have more than one business unit to look at (we have discussed tools and processes how this should be handled).
And at least, don't forget your focus: Technical Management! (That means, that marketing aspects has to be considered, but should not be the center of your argument)
On that basis you should develop strategic options for the management of CNH. These options should not be general, but as practical as possible. Please also take care for a sound argument why the chosen strategies are the preferable ones. Name also set preconditions and critical factors for these strategies.
